Parkersburg Catholic tennis took on rival St. Joseph Central Thursday night at Jackson Park.
The Boys team won a shortened match 5-0. Both 1 Singles and 1 Doubles were a double-forfeit, but the Crusaders won every other match decisively. The most exciting match was the last of the day, in which Mitchell Clowes and Brendan Smith outlasted the Irish pair at 2 Doubles, winning 8-6.
The Girls team was swept by the state-favorite Irish, but the young Crusaders looked promising against the powerhouse. Katelyn Kammerer played perhaps the most competitive match at 3 Singles, but fell in the end.
The Crusaders are scheduled for the Logan and Boone County double this weekend, with a home match against Chapmanville Friday and an away match at Scott on Saturday morning.
