Last night, the Crusaders took on the Williamstown Yellow Jackets in Game 1 of a best-of-three series for the Sectional Championship. PCHS began the game by falling behind Williamstown 6-0, due to a series of Crusader errors in the 1st and 2nd innings of the game. Williamstown ace, Reece Westfall, proved to be a tough opponent on the mound, as the Crusaders remained scoreless through the first three innings. However, PCHS broke through in the 4th inning, tallying up four runs against Westfall, ending his night on the mound early. Tall right-hander, Cullen Cutwright, took over for the Yellow Jackets in the 5th Inning, allowing three more runs for the Crusaders, narrowing the Williamstown lead to 8-7. The Yellow Jackets added one insurance run in the Bottom of the 6th Inning off of PCHS reliever Remy Toncray. The Crusader rally fell short in the 7th Inning, bring the final score to a 9-7 Crusader defeat.
The Crusaders look to rebound today in Game 2 of the Sectional Finals. A Crusader victory would bring the series back 1-1, setting up an elimination Game 3 in the series. First Pitch of Game 2 is scheduled for 5 PM at Williamstown. Come out and support your Crusaders!
