Crusaders News · Boys Look to Punch Ticket to States

Last Friday marked a tough test for the PCHS Boys Basketball team, as they came away with a 28-27 victory over bitter rival Williamstown. The Yellowjackets took advantage of the lack of a shot clock in high school basketball, holding the ball for stretches of 2-3 minutes at a time. This gimmick strategy placed a huge importance on quality of possessions for the Crusaders, keeping them from going on a run and pulling away. Turnovers down the stretch by Williamstown proved the difference, and PCHS escaped with the Sectional Championship.

The focus now turns to tonight when the Crusaders will host the Tug Valley Panthers (13-12) in the Region IV Co-Final. A rematch from last year’s co-final, PCHS looks to avenge a blowout loss they endured on the road. Though TVHS lost a slew of players due to graduation, the Panthers are not a team to sleep on in this season’s playoffs. The game will tip-off at 7:00 PM in the PCHS gymnasium, with the winner punching their ticket to the State Tournament. The Cru’s theme is Crazy Blue and White, and fans and students are encouraged to come support the boys to a win. Let’s Go Blue!
