17 Middle School Boys spent 18 days, 36 hours and did over 180 drills in preparation for their first game of the season. The hard work, sweat, and positive attitudes paid off as they came out hungry versus Marietta St. Mary’s.
Knotted up at 17 at the half the athletic group got after it in the third quarter. “We are athletic across the board this season and plan on chasing the ball all over the court each chance we get.” Coach Fleming said after the win. “Defense is what will make us go.” After the third frame the Crusaders pushed their lead out to 19 and didn’t look back.
Leading the Crusaders in baskets the first game were 8th Grader, Blake Lewis who had 7 buckets plus going 3-4 from the foul line for 17 points. Adding some help in the points category was 7th Grader, Landon Dodrill who also had 7 buckets, 2 threes, 2-4 from the foul line to add up to 18 points on the evening.
Next Tuesday will be the first of a few triple headers this season. The first of which is versus Ritchie County High School with the Middle School Boys starting at 4:30pm, followed by JV Boys at 6pm, and ending with the Varsity boys first game of the season following the JV game.
